Electrician – Facilities Maintenance

About the role

The Electrician provides journeyman‑level maintenance and repair of electrical, HVAC, and related building systems for Georgetown University facilities. Working as part of a 24/7 maintenance team, the role ensures safe, reliable operation of campus buildings.

Key responsibilities

• Perform standard electrician work, including installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems and fixtures.
• Respond to service calls, conduct scheduled preventative maintenance, and address unscheduled or emergency tasks.
• Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC, industrial refrigeration, and ventilating equipment, including steam‑operated kitchen gear.
• Install and adjust temperature control systems, ductwork, and related components to meet precise environmental requirements.
• Diagnose and repair fire alarm, lock‑out, water main, and flood‑related issues.
• Observe all safety codes, regulations, and best‑practice procedures while using standard trade tools and equipment.

Required profile

• Journeyman‑level experience in electrical maintenance and building trades.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, 24/7 response environment.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, electrical codes, and preventative maintenance practices.
• Effective communication with building occupants and maintenance supervisors.
