Health Sciences Librarian

About the role

The Health Sciences Librarian at Dahlgren Memorial Library provides research, reference, outreach, and instructional support to a wide range of patrons across Georgetown University Medical Center. This full‑time staff role connects users with library resources and emerging technologies to enhance health‑sciences education and research.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver reference and research assistance in‑person, by phone, email, chat, and web‑conferencing to students, faculty, staff, and researchers.
• Conduct literature searches for the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Health, cancer center, graduate programs, and affiliated hospitals.
• Support responsible use of AI‑assisted discovery, search, and summarisation tools, advising users on limitations, bias, and transparency.
• Advise senior management on best practices, develop assessment systems, and compile reference‑service statistics.
• Participate in library, campus, and interdisciplinary committees, task forces, and teams.

Required profile

• Experience providing reference and research services to health‑sciences communities.
• Familiarity with emerging AI tools used in evidence synthesis and research support.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patron groups.
