About the role
The Structural Engineer in Planning and Facilities Management supports Georgetown University’s campus infrastructure by providing engineering analysis and expertise for building projects of varying scope. This position oversees structural and building envelope maintenance, historic preservation, and code compliance across the university’s historic campuses.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and support project development, reviewing designs for compliance with university standards and best practices.
- Identify and correct deficiencies to optimize building envelope performance and structural integrity.
- Train maintenance staff on structural and envelope design and maintenance best practices.
- Develop, enhance, and track preventive maintenance programs for building envelopes.
- Manage deferred maintenance programs from concept through construction documentation.
- Develop engineering solutions for corrective actions, historic preservation, and code compliance.
Required profile
- Degree in civil or structural engineering or related field.
- Experience with multi‑discipline building projects, including structural and envelope engineering.
- Knowledge of historic preservation practices and building codes.
- Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to address facility needs.
