About the role
The Human Resources Officer supports the Law Center's Department of Employment Services, acting as the primary HR contact for faculty, staff, and students. Reporting to the Director of Law Center Human Resources, the officer ensures smooth HR operations and delivers professional, timely assistance to the community.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and execute daily HR department operations.
- Process all staffing changes, including new hires, transfers, promotions, terminations, and I-9 administration.
- Manage recruiting and onboarding activities using Workday and the Georgetown Management System (GMS).
- Provide training and clear communication to stakeholders and new employees.
- Administer human capital management for student employment and Academic Fellowships.
- Collaborate with the Dean’s Office, Faculty Affairs, Financial Affairs, Academic Affairs, IST, UIS, Payroll Services, and other university HR partners.
- Determine and implement best practices for position evaluations.
Required profile
- Subject‑matter expert in HR processes and policies.
- Ability to prioritize business operations and respond to community needs.
- Strong customer‑service orientation with excellent communication skills.
- Experience working in a higher‑education or similar complex environment.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Workday HRIS.
- Experience using the Georgetown Management System (GMS).
- Knowledge of I‑9 administration and full‑cycle recruiting.
- Ability to conduct training and onboarding sessions.
